Armani’s Grill in Nanaimo BC Canada
Best Chinese Food in Nanaimo! If you’ve been to Anton’s Pasta Bar in Burnaby, the portions at Armani’s will be familiar to you. Gord, the guy who owns and runs Armani’s, also started Anton’s back in the day.
Armani’s has sizable servings and very good prices, the guy even makes his own cheesecake. Atmosphoere is good, but not absolute perfection, but I go there for the food, and Gord is a blast. One of the craziest hosts ever, and a great sense of humour.
Two things I like there are the Burgers, and the Rice Bowls. I have not had the noodles bowls yet, but next time I go I plan to get one rice bowl and one noodle bowl. Tasty stuff!
Rice Bowls – There are plenty of variety of veggies in the bowl, depending on the one you get (My fav so far is the Gordo’s Special Bowl) you get chopped up brocolli, cauliflower, shredded carrots, mushrooms, bean sprouts, shredded beets, etc. The meat is always tasty and the sauces in the rice are fantastic. The Jasmine rice is very fragrant and cooked to perfection.
The Burgers – The fries that come with the Burgers are the BEST. Hands down. Never had better fries in my life, and Gord told us the secret.. its an ancient chinese secret, you’d better ask him yourself 😉 The fries are deep-fried from raw, and taste VERY good with the chilli mayo that they have there. The King of Shrooms is my favourite burger, with a pile of mushrooms that is collosal, and a huge burger on a whole wheat kaiser.
I’ve never had anything else on the menu, but I love the rice bowls, every one that I tried was great!
Give Armani’s a shot, they are probably the best medium-priced restaurant in Nanaimo for Burgers and Rice bowls. They also serve Pasta and Noodle bowls and other things, but I haven’t tried them yet.
