Dueck on Marine GM Service Guys are Jackasses

posted by the dood

UPDATE: Seems this post has exploded, and I’m seeing that a lot of people are googling for “Larry Wong Dueck” to find this post. I’m quite sure those aren’t regular search terms, so someone’s spreading the word and telling people to search for it. Maybe Larry and Rick are sending their friends to try help make them look good. (At least two of the users were sharing an IP Address, so they were the same person pretending not to be)

Anyway, I’m turning comments off from now on since this is just turning into a flame war, some posts were so loaded with profanity that it’s obvious that its someone that Larry sent. This is my blog – I can say what I want. When you’re posting here, you’re my guests. Remember that. All I ever really wanted when I walked into Dueck with my complaint was an apology that they recommended $900 worth of servicing that wasn’t necessary – but instead of I got a smart ass reply from Larry Wong.

Original Post:
I will never purchase a GM vehicle again… and neither will my wife. I used to have a Cadillac, but no longer and neither will she after she gets rid of her car. Not because the cars were that bad, but because of the service centre in Vancouver. The Dueck on Marine GM Goodwrench service centre is the most poorly managed, shit customer service place I have ever set foot in. In general, Vancouver service is much worse than Nanaimo, but this place takes the cake.

Maybe I’m a bit spoiled and used to people treating me like a real customer when I walk in, but man.. these guys like Larry Wong especially are just a bunch of Jackasses. Kinda like Kanye West. Always trying to sell you services that you don’t need and telling you that your car will practically fall apart if you don’t do anything.

I will NEVER BUY A GM VEHICLE again because of Dueck on Marine’s Service Centre. The thing is.. I don’t want to have to look at that bunch of cretin slimeballs like Larry Wong and Rick McKoryk every time I get my car serviced. The Mercedes dealership treats me so good that I would not even think about buying a Cadillac and getting treated like crap by douchebags like Larry Wong and Rick McKoryk.

Hey GM are you listening? Its not your cars, is your shit service guys that are ruining your sales.

  1. Nelson,

You sound like a you have issues. My family and I have dealt with duecks for years. We never had any bad experiences. They’ve always been fair, up front, and honest about everything thru the years. I have seen some people get angry when I’ve been there to service my vehicles, but usually it’s because those people aren’t getting their way. I’ve dealt with Larry and I can say that he’s one of the good guys. You “Nelson”(if that’s even your real name), sound like one of those angry people who didn’t get their way. Actually Nelson, you sound like THE JACKASS!!!! in the way you cussed in your post.

  2. Erin,
Gee I wonder if you’re Larry’s girlfriend or something, because Larry is a condescending jackass. Not sure how you figure jackass is cussing, either.

I love how you just jump to conclusions without a single fact. It shows your intelligence and how much you really care about the facts.

Anyway, I’ll let you humour me. Its obvious from your post that you have some sort of stake in this.

  3. Nelson,

As a blogger stating your opinion to the world, I would expect you’d have a better understanding of those that wish to share their experiences too. However, as been shown on both your blogs, you are not willing to accept other people’s opinions basing this upon their “stake” in the issue. Can you not see the ignorance in your statement? The purpose of your blog in the first place was to communicate your “stake” in this issue. Should we simply dismiss your argument as easily as you dismiss others?

  4. Scott, Erin, or whomever you like to call yourself:

Your comments aren’t supported by any information. You simply state that you’ve had a good experience at Dueck, and you provide absolutely no details of the transactions an expect that to mean something.

Its funny you say that I have to accept your opinion, when you can’t accept mine. I suppose its your “opinion” to call me a Jackass as well. If you come at me with that tone of not accepting my opinion simply because it can’t be and that’s that, I’m not going to try and look at your side of the argument, use your head.

Why don’t I say this. I’m glad you had a good experience, Mine sucked. I’ve been to Dueck on Marine Service dept. 4 times since I moved here, and three out of four times has left a sour taste in my mouth, and all for different reasons. The Sales guys have been great, however.

That Dueck Blog, that’s another guy. I didn’t start this blog for the purpose of complaining about Dueck, trust me. I started this long before I even cared about those low-lifes.

  5. Nelson,
I don’t know what you are rambling about I have serviced my cars here for years and I have never come across these problems. Everytime I have taken my car to Dueck on marine I have had nothing but awesome service. The guys are very polite they look after you as best as possible and they try to get on your way as soon as possible so you can go about your day. The other thing I like about dueck they always after every service give you a check list of things that need attention or will soon need attention and that is a plus because you can either decide what you will need to do next on your vehicle. I think your wrong by accusing dueck of bad service seems like they have been nothing but nice and helpful to others including myself. Maybe your just one of those customers that think they should always have everything paid for, I have seen customers like that just because they cant have it your way you throw a fit. But once again thats my opinion I think they do a great job down at Dueck on Marine.

  6. Hector, I’ve had my cars serviced by other GM dealerships for years and have never had a problem that wasn’t corrected quickly and courteously. When I had another GM dealership (Wheaton) look at the list of items that Dueck suggested, they laughed and said “That’s big city pricing for you” and told me that all I really needed was an oil change.

If I’m just one of those guys that throws a fit when I don’t get my way, maybe you’re a shill? And if you’re not a shill, then maybe I was really treated poorly by a bunch of jackasses? I always find it humourous that people think that just because they didn’t have a bad experience that no one else could have, and how it must be the customers fault. I’ve serviced my cars for years at other shops and never had a bad enough experience that I felt the need to complain, until Dueck.

  7. Nelson, Divine, or whomever you like to call yourself:

Did you read my post? The whole purpose of my message was to convey to you the significance of other people’s opinions, regardless of whether or not you agree with that person. It was not to share my experience at Dueck (I am not a customer) nor was it to dismiss your experiences.

And, who are you to complain about the tone of a post? Read the title of this blog! Who wrote that?

    Scott

  8. Divine? I’m quite certain I don’t call myself anything like that…

Scott, I really don’t follow your logic. This is my blog, for me to post my experiences. A guy comes on here and tells me that I couldn’t possibly have been treated bad and that I must be a jackass myself. I respond by saying he must be a shill to be so passionate. You come along and say that I have to accept his opinion on my blog. Regardless of whether or not he had a good experience, I DID NOT.

It was not you that dismissed my experiences, but rather the previous poster. I really don’t have time to get into an argument with you – I’ll just tell you “You’re right, Scott”. That’s what you want isn’t it?

  9. Bad guys! I too did get a poor service from dueck they told me I need to change my brakes but my brakes is fine! I take it to OK tire and they tell me I have one year left on my brake.

  10. Elsa you have to be joking for a shop to say you have a year left on your brakes is utter b/s. Brakes go by percentage or mm and it totall depends on the type of driving you do doesnt matter how much you drive. Usually at 20% or 2 mm you are suggested to replace the brakes before your rotors get damaged.

  11. This thread is fired up! I love it.

Actually, some service advisors will estimate the time left in years or seasons of driving if you cannot understand “3mm” or “30%” and they will base this on your service history and the milleage using the two to determine how hard you are on brakes.

  12. To paraphrase Nelson, “I always find it humourous that people think that just because they didn’t have a good experience that no one else could have, and how it must be the businesses fault.”

Enjoy your blog Nelson. And, yes, I am right. I’m always right. I know I am. I’m never wrong. As you can see, I’m a little high on myself. Sometimes I trip and fall off this high horse, but I’ll be damned if I don’t get back on.

  13. *bows down to Scott on his self-righteous soap-box*

    what a douchebag.

  14. Douchebag?

At least I’m not a small man hiding behind a computer complaining about poor service. You had poor service 3 times before you found your balls and went to a different dealership. In fact, judging by your posts, it looks like you spend a lot of time hanging out at auto repair shops. No wonder you leave with a sour taste in your mouth. You should make them wash their dicks before you suck on them.

Now that I think about it, I guess I really am a douchbag. I’ve never liked the way I look, my mom always called me fat. I never made anything of myself, worked for the Union, drove a truck until I was 45. But I am still better than you!

    Scott

  15. Spend a lot of time hanging out at auto repair shops? How do you figure that?

I simply don’t have time to drive to another dealership as Dueck GM pretty much has a monopoly on Cadillac in the area. I was stuck going to them because they were the only Cadillac Repair in my area, and my car was under warranty. Why don’t you get your facts straight before you talk.

Like i said. Douchebag. You talk like such a big man, Scott. You’re really the small man hiding behind a computer trying to pick fights with bloggers to make yourself feel better about your pathetic life.

PS: I didn’t know dicks left a sour taste in your mouth – I’m glad you could share your experience.

  16. I have been a customer of Dueck for a year and a half. I have been extremelly satisfied with the service and advisors. My advisor has helped me out by picking up my car and dropping off a replacement on his way to work and bringing my car back at the end of the day.
Upselling is a fact in the service industry. It happens each time you visit a restaurant and the server recommends the more expensive wine or offers dessert. The point is, you have the option to decline. In addition, you have the right to a second opinion. If your doctor told you that you had a disease, would you not get a second opinion. Same goes for your car. If you quetion what they are telling you, talk to someone else!
Don’t blame these guys who work hard and have to listen to complaining everyday. They are doing their jobs. You have a brain. Use it!!

  17. Happy at Dueck, There’s so many things wrong with that. Choosing whether I want dessert is not even close to some guy trying to tell me my brakes will fail if I don’t change them when I don’t know to check my own brakes.

If my doctor tells me that I have a disease, I don’t go straight to a second doctor, I take his advice. Most people don’t have the luxury of having several family doctors to get the advice of. I’d actually be quite surprised if most people told their doctor every time they saw them that they were going to a second doctor to get a second opinion.

If I knew what my car needed to have fixed, I wouldn’t need the silly service ADVISOR to give me advice. I did have one good experience at Dueck, and it was with some dood named Paco I think.
