The Nominees are in for Best Picture, and for the first time in a while, I’ve seen most of them. The nominees are:
Avatar
Inglourious Basterds
Up in the Air
The Hurt Locker
Precious
Up
An Education
A Serious Man
The Blind Side
District 9

Seems to be quite a few nominees this year, or maybe I’m just not remembering previous years correctly. Of those that were nominated, I haven’t seen An Education, A Serious Man and Precious. I haven’t actually even heard of the first two, and Precious struck me as as retelling of Fat Girl, by Catherine Breillat.

At any rate, as an overall fantastic movie, I would say all of the ones I watched were definately fantastic. Inglorious Basterds was probably the one that I least thought I would like, but ended up liking. Blind Side was a sleeper for me… I don’t usually like that kind of movie. District 9 was phenomenal. The Hurt Locker was also phenomenal. Avatar was a brillant and definately over-the-top as far as epic-ness. Up in the Air was also much better than I thought, though I felt ther were some weaknesses.

If I had to make a choice as to my choice for best picture, I would have to say “District 9″

#1 Douchebag and Anti-Canadian Billy Bob Thornton is “perplexed” as to why Canadian audiences and media were so worked up by his ridiculous blow up on Q. He said that it at least gave “humpbacked geeks” something to talk about. Well.. I’m talking about you now, Billy Buttcheek, complete with your ridiculous overgrown soul patch and super overhang.. you look like that kid Nelson from The Simpsons.. heck you kind of act like him too.

So he doesn’t know why its a big deal, yet him and his group the Boxmasters cancelled all their Canadian show dates. Gee, I wonder why. Maybe because you don’t want your ass kicked by a bunch of Crazy Canadians. It would probably happen too. Crazies beatin a Crazy.

So he calls Canadians “mashed potatoes with no gravy”, then goes on a Canadian talk show and crucifies the host for bringing up the fact that he has anything to do with making movies… and THEN, he goes on Jimmy Kimmel Live, an American talk show host, who introduces him as a film star who’s done lots of movies, and doesn’t seem to mind and then publicly states he can’t figure out what the fuss is all about… must be those weird Canadians.

Well, you redneck, wife-beating, second-rate actor, fifth-rate musician, maybe it has something to do with your complete disregard for anyone but yourself.

Here’s his interview on Q:

Okay, was I the only one that thought Slumdog Millionaire was overrated? Yes, it was a great movie, and yes it was different and showed me a side of India that I never knew existed. Kids having their eyes burned out with acid in order to make them better beggars was not something that I was aware of, and it is a real eye opener. The Bollywood dancing at the end was kinda cool too, but was it so ground-breaking that it deserves all the press it got? I don’t think so.

It was a good movie, no doubt about it. However, I have seen many movies which I enjoyed more. The wrestler was a better movie, in my opinion. I liked the raw filming style of Aronovsky better than the glitzy style that Slumdog was filmed in. I thought slumdog had some stuff that just didn’t fit, and the CSI: Miami style cut scenes were just a bit contrary to the setting of the film.

Anyway.. Good movie, but a bit overrated, IMO.
