This is kind of scary!! If this Asian kid could sneak onto the plane disguised as an old man, what’s to stop those crazy middle eastern bombers from sending “praise allah” bombs to the USA with crazy disguises like that?!

Gay Teenager Commits Suicide after Being Taped and Broadcasted

This kind of stuff is just disgusting. A gay 18-yr old violinist named Tyler Clementi jumped off a bridge to his death after his roomate, Dharun Ravi and a friend of his named Molly Wei from Princeton University took part in recording him making out and having sex with another man and broadcasting it. Dharun Ravi apparently thought it would be fun to start tweeting and facebooking about how his roomate (photo below) was secretly having a relationship with another man.

Dharun Ravi is no better than the kids that filmed the raping of the 16-year old girl in Pitt Meadows. What a sick freak, possibly harbouring similar tendancies himself, and unable to deal with it – he does something so horrific to his roomate, thus causing him to jump off a bridge. Is facebook really good for us?

Telus Mobility’s New Paperless Billing is a Money Grab

“In a bid to be more environmentally conscious”, Telus Mobility is going to start charging $2 for paper billing starting Sept 21st, 2010.

There is a logical fallacy here.

If Telus Mobility really wanted to be more environmentally conscious wouldn’t they give everyone a $2 discount to switch to paperless billing? Darren Entwistle just found a new way to increase revenue! Most businesses need to have paper records of all their expenses so they will have to make sure they get the email and then print it themselves, and this doesn’t save much in the way of trees except maybe an envelope.

Face it, Telus is making a cash grab!

I love how the guys “fighting” the HST have google ads on their website and are asking for donations to help fight the good fight. I should do the same and claim its for a just cause and try and milk people for their money under the guise of fighting the HST.

Big effin’ deal. Its another tax. I run and operate a business, and this tax will probably affect me both negatively and positively, I’m not going to whine about it. Adapt and adjust, otherwise die like the dinosaur. Its about survival of the fittest.

BC Teens Helping to Reduce Teen Shootings

This is the second instance in a month in which a BC Teen has helped put a stop to what could possibly have been another school shooting. While many kids think sometimes this stuff could be a joke and not take it seriously, obviously these teens that have been apprehended and are facing charges had the means to do everything they claimed to be planning to do.

Congrats to these teens for doing the right thing and not taking things lightly. They should be commended and encouraged to do this in the future.

Tim Hortins Bans New Brunswickian

Apparently a Tim Horton’s in New Brunswick owned by Edwin Dow has banned a guy from ever going into their store again because he has gotten Burnt Decaf coffee and complained three times about it.

Now, I can understand pain in the ass customers, and stuff. I’ve complained about lots of stores in the past, and while I think that many customers can be a pain, I think a lot of stores now feel like they have the right to treat customers any way they want, which is fine I guess if they don’t want the customer any more. However, they should be ready to accept the fact that they will get flack for it, and there will be fallout in some cases. I highly doubt all this bad press for Edwin Dow was worth three cups of coffee. If even two customers skip out on coffee now he will have lost money.

No, the customer is not always right, but when I go to Starbucks, and they screw up a drink, even a LITTLE bit, they give me a free drink! Virtually every time! When they screw up my free syrups in my drink and charged me for them, they gave me 2 free drink coupons. While its a bit annoying having to deal with stuff that they tell you that you are supposed to get, they make up for it, and it keeps me coming back. They make me feel like they want me as a customer, and I don’t mind paying a premium for a coffee that I enjoy drinking and a brand I enjoy associating with.

Black Friday, Cyber Monday – Results Mixed

As we look back at this recession, we (at least I) hope to see encouraging Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales – indicators that we are passed the recession and are on a solid road to recovery.

Online sales reports have been in, and we are seeing an 11% rise in sales from last year in online sales on Black Friday, but brick and mortar sales reports from Time Magazine are showing a decline by 8% in sales per person, even though more people showed up looking for deals. However, actual sales volume did increase by approximately 1%.

This does enforce the growing trend that online spending will continue to increase, especially where budget-concious shoppers are concerned. The online discounts continue to roll in as Cyber Monday, the busiest shopping day in online sales, goes on.
