Birthday Weekend in Vancouver

Yep, its that time again.. another year, another birthday.

So, I headed down to Vancouver to visit my parents and friends that live out there for the weekend. It was a great time, got cool gifts, money, and cake along with free meals and all that jazz. I got to spend a bit of time with an old buddy and realized how much I miss hanging out with him. He even got me a Jack and Jones zip up shirt.. its pretty sweet.

A few things interesting things that I have learned in my trip.. mostly consumerism type stuff – still the same Nelson I used to be!

But First, a Note to Rob: You don’t get traffic to your site from traffic going to the word “porn”, you use names of stars, and other types of stuff, and you also use affiliate links. When you set up a site, you go through one of the big affiliate companies and you give them half your income ($30 signup, you pay them $15 for a referral) and they do the work of getting traffic to you, as long as your site converts, they will be more than happy to send you customers.

Back to my adventures in Van:

Juicy Couture – Definitely coming back in a BIG way. Their stuff is everywhere now… and my girlfriend bought one of their purses. She is also big into the House of Dereon clothing line from Beyonce. But Juicy Couture is her new love. She picked up a black Juicy Purse and can’t stop fondling it, and has now grown her purse collection just that much more.

I know how to keep her happy now 🙂

True Religion Jeans – I always thought overpriced denim was well… overpriced. In the US they are like $200-250, but here in Canada we pay over $400 for a pair after taxes. Figure that out, especially when our dollar is worth more! I’m thinking about snagging a pair off ebay for $100 or so, but considering the fakes out there and my lack of knowledge of these jeans it might not be a good idea.

Maybe I’ll hit the US one of these days and pick myself up a pair.

Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier and other Unique shirt brands – Very cool stuff, I’ve seen Ed Hardy’s stuff but didn’t know it was made by Christian Audigier. Christian Audigier is a French designer that became popular when he joined Von Dutch and brought the brand to the forefront of young designer clothing. Now he has his own label and also designs the Ed Hardy line of clothing with Tatoo artist Don Ed Hardy.

I noticed the stuff but really didn’t think much of it until I heard that certain clothing brands were banned from certain clubs in Downtown Vancouver. Brands like Affliction, CA, Ed Hardy, and Extreme Couture were all banned.. so I wanted to know more.

Not sure why they are, but they are. Not really all that interesting, but the clothes are quite unique, with a lot of very interesting style to it. Christian Audigier shirts sell in the neighbourhood of around $150 or more, with some of the hoodies fetching in the $500-600 range. Stars like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton are loyal fans of Audigier.

This is probably old news for most style junkies out there, but its new to me and I found it interesting 🙂

That just about wrapped up my birthday weekend!
