Noodle Soup Diet – How I Lost Weight – Part 2

Posted by the dood on Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Here is how the noodle soup diet works. Noodle soup is made up of a good balance of Carbs, fiber-rich and non fiber-rich; complete proteins; and low in fat. It also has a large amount of soup in it, which is good for filling you up, but has the unfortunate downside of being high in sodium.

Here is a sample of a Noodle Soup Recipe, which will fill you up really good. Most of the calculations are estimates

1/2 Package of Udon Noodles – 110 calories
1 Stock of Brocoli – 40 calories
1/2 Chicken Breast, chopped up – 130 calories
1 Handful of Bean Sprouts – 5 calories
1/2 cup of shrimp – 50 calories

Add some soup base, maybe some spices, and some green onion to flavour, and you have your noodle soup! This is quite filling for a lot of people, and only adds up to 295 calories, less than a Starbucks Cookie!

You can add more veggies and meat/protein as you can handle, but try and keep the dish under 600 calories. Also try not to consume too much Protein in a single sitting as well.

This is the basic outline of the noodle soup diet. I’ll go into other variations as well in later parts.

Finally fixing up the Lawn

Posted by the dood on Sunday, September 16th, 2007

After that Weedman ordeal, I am taking the plunge and having a guy take care of the lawn for rejuvenation come next spring. He said that it should wait until then to be redone because the new grass may die over the winter.

Weedman is still not replying to my explicit emails asking if he is even going to give me a proper invoice… so I don’t know what to do. Hiring Nanaimo Weedman was the worst decision I made.

Keith at Avalon Audio is saying that business is slow.. hopefully it picks up for him. All those people that complain about no high-end audio store should support him! Otherwise you can’t complain 😉

Anyway, its nearing the end of the weekend. Back to work for me.

Weedman Nanaimo is the WORST I have dealt with

Posted by the dood on Monday, September 10th, 2007

I had to send an email to Weedman Canada, because Weedman Naniamo is so hard to deal with. Weedman does not return calls, does not return emails, and continues to treat my lawn, 3 months after I asked him to stop.. several times.

I cannot comprehend how he even manages to run a business because I have asked to pay him, and he will not send me an invoice for the amount I owe, but continues to send me invoices for the treatments that I asked not to have, and continues to bill me late charges. I really don’t know what to do. I asked him not to set foot on my property anymore or I would charge him with trespassing, but I don’t know what else to do.

I really don’t want to deal with Weedman Nanaimo anymore. I have never dealt with anyone that is so oblivious to the customer.

Any of you guys ever dealt with anyone like that? *sigh*

Noodle Soup Diet – How I Lost Weight – Part 1

Posted by the dood on Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

I’m going to share with you guys how I lost my weight. I lost over 70 lbs over the course of 5 months at one point about 7 years ago now. I really was down on myself and had some low self-esteem issues since gaining the weight and decided it was time to lose it. I included eating properly and exercising, though I am now certain that exercising had less to do with it than the eating.

It wasn’t easy, but it sure was simple. I started educating myself and learning all about calories and different diets… I think the hardest thing was convincing myself that I needed to do it and forcing myself to stick to a given eating schedule. Like everything else in life, I wanted best bang for buck… so the highest satisfaction of food eating, for the least amount of caloric intake.

I don’t think losing weight is all about calories… I factor in five things when it comes to eating: Calories, Fat, Sodium, Fiber and Fillingness. Not sure that last one is a word 🙂

Calories
I don’t think you can always eat the same number of calories a day, but its good to try and keep that relatively consistent. I found that fluctuations can cause weight gain for me. If my calories jumped one day, I’d immediately notice a rise in my weight.

I looked at my weight, and guesstimated a target caloric intake of about 1800 calories.. and as long as i kept to that, I seemed to lose weight.. its not scientific at all, but when I reveal to you what I ate to keep my calories you might find that it suits you really well.

Fat
Fat has over twice as much calories per gram as carbs or protein, so Fat is best kept far far away. I tried to keep my fat intake extremely low, but noticed that when fat intake was kept too low I developed dry skin and my eczema flared up, requiring me to use lots of moisturizers on my hands.

Sodium
I’ve always been against high sodium intake, not only is it bad for you, increasing your chances of heart attacks and other such things, but it causes water retension. It can make you feel puffy. So do yourself a favor and keep the sodium down and keep your body’s minerals balanced.

Fiber
Fiber is the free calorie. You can eat tons of it, and you won’t gain anything because your body doesn’t digest it, it just uses it to help you pass… stuff. High fiber foods are not only healthy, but can prevent constipation and some types of fiber help reduce blood cholesterol.

Fillingness
This is my personal big one, and it ties in with low fat. Fat does not fill. Certain foods have a high fillingness factor which keep you content longer than others. Take for example a Chocolate bar at 300 calories. It does not fill you up as much as a big bag of low-fat smart pop popcorn at 250 calories. Eat smart!

Stay tuned for Part 2 where I will talk more about what the Noodle Soup Diet is!
