I don’t know, but I don’t think so.

Watched this movie with several friends a couple nights ago, and It was a bit disappointing. Not because it was a bad movie, but because there was so much hype surrounding it that my expectations were way up there.

Russel Crowe and Denzel Washington, directed by Ridley Scott. The acting was first rate, and the directing was not bad either, but the way the story was put together, perhaps this is the director’s fault, was somewhat mediocre. The movie seemed to focus on too many things at the same time, in the end not focusing on anything at all. It should not have been callled American Gangster, it should have been a documentary called “How I built a Drug Empire, and lost it”.

This movie has almost no action, so don’t expect Gladiator set in modern times. It takes place in the late 60’s and early 70’s and follows Denzel Washington, who plays Frank Lucas, the biggest importer of high-grade Heroin in New York city at the time, supplying the mafia along with many others – His road to the top, and everything afterwards.

I give the movie about 3.5 stars out of 5 if i have to. Decent flick, but certainly not the suspensful action-drama that I was expecting.
